Riyadh:  Emirates, the world-renowned airline, has officially opened its first dedicated lounge in Saudi Arabia at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. This marks a significant milestone for Emirates, solidifying their commitment to the Kingdom and enhancing the travel experience for their premium passengers.

The official opening of the lounge was attended by His Excellency Nasser Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Consul General of UAE in Jeddah, His Excellency Engr. Raed bin Ibrahim Al-Mudaiheem, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO), Mohammed Mattar, Divisional Senior Vice President of Airport Services at Emirates, Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of JEDCO, Sami Aqil Abdulla, Senior Vice President Airport Services for Outstations and Business Support, Jabr Al-Azeeby, Vice President Commercial Operations for Emirates in Saudi Arabia, and Amer Al Arai, Airport Services Manager for Emirates at King Abdulaziz International Airport.

A gateway to luxury

This new lounge opening represents another significant step for Emirates in Saudi Arabia. The airline currently operates flights to four major Saudi gateways – Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina, and Dammam – offering over 70 weekly flights, including triple daily A380 services to Jeddah.

Since its inception in the Kingdom, Emirates has transported close to 30.7 million passengers, connecting them to a vast global network of destinations. 

The AED 20 million (USD$5.4 million) investment showcases a stunning 900-square-meter lounge situated within the airport's newest Terminal 1. Designed with comfort and luxury in mind, the lounge caters to Emirates' First and business-class passengers, as well as Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members.

The impressive space boasts a capacity of over 190 guests, offering a variety of seating options to suit different needs. Passengers can choose from dining areas, lounge spaces, and even quiet areas for relaxation before their flight.

A celebration of partnership and progress

The official opening ceremony was a prestigious event, attended by dignitaries including His Excellency Nasser Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Consul General of UAE in Jeddah, and His Excellency Engr. Raed bin Ibrahim Al-Mudaiheem, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO).

Mohammed Mattar, Divisional Senior Vice President Airport Services at Emirates, expressed his delight at the collaboration: "Jeddah was our first gateway into Saudi Arabia 35 years ago. It's fitting that King Abdulaziz International Airport, a world-class facility, becomes the first airport outside Dubai to feature an Emirates dedicated lounge."

Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of JEDCO, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the long-standing relationship and the positive impact the lounge will have on passenger experience: "The launch of Emirates lounge reflects the 35-year-long strategic relationship... The lounge is a significant addition to the airport's services and supports the comprehensive development efforts aimed at providing an enjoyable and seamless travel experience."

A world of amenities 

The new lounge features a sophisticated design that blends contemporary elements with subtle regional influences. Stepping inside, passengers are welcomed by a variety of seating configurations, including dedicated areas for dining, lounging, and relaxation.

The culinary experience takes center stage with a stunning buffet offering a diverse selection of Middle Eastern, local, and international delicacies. Passengers can indulge in dishes like Lamb Kabsa, Moroccan Lemon Chicken, Prawn Machbous, and decadent desserts like Tiramisu cake.

For added convenience, the lounge features luxurious shower facilities, a prayer room, and other amenities to ensure a comfortable and stress-free pre-flight experience.

Located on the third floor of Terminal 1's Departure area, the lounge provides easy access to boarding gates, situated just a 10-minute walk from the terminal entrance and a 3-5-minute walk from the dedicated Emirates A380 boarding gates.
